What We Teach

All classes are taught in our training lab, located in our downtown Chicago office.

Revit®: Quickstart for Designers

• Hands-On • 3 hours 30 minutes • $199

Learn how to use Revit®’s parametric building modeler to quickly develop your design ideas. By using parametric constraints, you can lock-in your design intent while exploring different models. Since you create 3D designs in Revit® right from the start, you can easily produce plan, section, and elevation drawings and 3D renderings. This allows you to speed the design and client review process and thus increase your office’s productivity.
Revit®: Advanced Productivity

• Hands-On • 1 hour 45 minutes • $99

This session will cover two advanced topics. Learn how to add tags to rooms for space planning and area calculations and how to use the information in Revit®’s “intelligent” component objects to create schedules and quantity takeoffs. You will also explore how to create custom parametric objects from generic templates.

Revit®: Compatibility with AutoCAD, AutoCAD® Architecture, IFC
• Lecture/ Demo • 1 hour 45 minutes • $99
What are the issues of integrating Revit® with your existing use of AutoCAD or AutoCAD® Architecture? Explore the differences between how Revit® and AutoCAD® Architecture use component objects. See how Revit® can import and export 2D DWG files and learn how to set the layering used in exported drawings. Examine the constraints of importing 3D geometry. This session will also explore exporting from Revit to IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) and IFC's relevance in the industry.
Sign up for all three classes above for $349

Revit® & NavisWorks®: Quickstart for Contractors

• Hands-on • 5 hours • $299

This 5-hour course provides a quick and comprehensive overview, specifically designed for general contractors, on how to use Revit® and NavisWorks®. After attending this course, you will have:

  • Understanding of the concepts and technology of Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Strategies for using BIM on projects
  • Hands-on experience with creating 3D models of architectural, structural and mechanical systems
  • Hands-on experience with creating schedules and exporting information
  • Knowledge of what is required to set up a Revit® model so that multiple trades can contribute to the modeling effort
  • Understanding of how NavisWorks® serves as a model integration environment for visualization, clash detection and linking the combined models from all trades to the project schedule.

Class topics include:

  • Building Information Modeling
  • Revit® Elements
  • The Revit® Interface
  • Viewing the Building Model
  • Starting a Project
  • Importing Vector Data and Linking Projects
  • Using NavisWorks®.

Hands-On exercises include:

  • Opening a Project and Importing a 2D CAD Plan
  • Adding Structural and Architectural Elements to the Model
  • Adding Structural Roof Framing to the Model
  • Completing the Mechanical System
  • Creating a Schedule and Exporting Information
  • Exporting the Model from Revit® to NavisWorks®
